My name is Neil Cadman and I am the 2016-2017 Chairperson for the El Segundo Education Foundation and a parent of three children in the El Segundo Unified School District.
Ed! was founded to help make up the difference for the declining amount of tax dollars available to ESUSD from the State of California. Over the past 33 years, Ed! has raised funds through the community to help the school district continue to provide a rich, rounded world-class education to each of our children.
This school year, our District has asked our community to raise $1.3 million in order to maintain the exceptional level of education at El Segundo schools and keep ESUSD as one of the top districts in the state. To meet this challenge, we are asking parents to contribute $400 per student.
Our Ed! theme for this school year is “Every Student Wins.” How do they win? Our students win by receiving the education they deserve. Who wins? EVERY student wins. Every single student, every single school day receives instruction in areas that simply would not exist without our community’s donations to our schools through Ed!.
In order to preserve the amazing schools our children attend each day, our schools need the support of our entire community. While each school site needs our parents to join and be active participants in our wonderful PTAs, the $1.3 million needed to keep our District’s curriculum for our children is solely through donations made to Ed!.
The first day of school, August 23rd, marks the beginning of our Fall Pledge Drive to fund “Every Student Wins.” The drive will continue through September 30th so we ask that you make your 2016-2017 commitment to education during this time.
If you are a past supporter or Superintendent’s Roundtable Member, THANK YOU! If you are new to the District or have not understood what Ed! is, then I personally invite you to participate in supporting EVERY student!
On behalf of my fellow volunteer Board members, our wish is for you and your children to have a truly exceptional school year!
Thank you –
