Dear ESUSD Parent,

Welcome back!  We hope that everyone had a relaxing summer, and that you are ready for another exciting school year.

Thankfully, we exceeded our fundraising goal last year.  Thank you to all who contributed.  Together we raised $800,000 for our District!  Almost half of that amount was donated by individuals like you.   This year we have increased our pledge to $900,000.

Educational excellence has come to be expected in El Segundo, as it should be.  Unfortunately, it does not come without a price tag.  This year, our school district will, by necessity, be unable to fund all of the programs that are valued by our students and our community.  At proposition 98-mandated funding levels, our district would normally be receiving roughly $7,000 per student.  Instead, our district will be receiving roughly $5,500 per student, a shortfall of $1,500.

We are seeking your support today to help bridge this gap and hope that you will consider making an annual contribution of $250 per student.  You may also wish to become a Superintendent’s Roundtable (SR) member, which is achieved when you donate $1,000 or more.  You can either donate a lump sum or pay monthly via your credit card.  Don’t forget, employer matching applies toward your donation!

We understand that these are challenging economic times and that the $250 per student represents a significant commitment for many families in our community.  On the other hand, can you think of a better use of $21 per month than investing in our children and our future?

Very important: This year, not only will Chevron match your gift dollar-for-dollar (up to $75,000), but our friends at Continental Development Corporation have pledged to match new or increased donations from last year dollar-for-dollar (up to $1,000,000).  There is no better time to donate than NOW!

Please join us this year.  TOGETHER, WE CAN…

  • Keep the Arts (Music, Band, Performing Arts) in our schools.
  • Provide programs in Science and Math (Biomedical Science, CMAST Math, Stock Market Game, and Robotics) that will give our students a competitive edge.
  • Offer programs and guidance in self-management and leadership (AVID, Link Crew, Junior Achievement, and Middle School Counselors) that will prepare our students for their future.
  • Enhance the future of our students by providing the tools (Technology) and opportunities (Literacy and International Baccalaureate) they need to succeed.
